Yang Jinsong

Yang Jinsong (b.1971, Chongqing, China) is a leading figure in the phenomenal Sichuan contemporary art movement along with artists such as Zhang Xiaogang, Zhou Chunya, Luo Zhongli, etc. He was trained at the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, China, and Kassel College of Art (KhK), Germany.

Yang’s work has been widely exhibited in the world, including “Chili from Chongqing”, Kulturbahnhof, Kassel, Germany (2001), “China: Facing Reality”, Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig Wien, Vienna, Austria (2007), and “State of the Dao: Chinese Contemporary Art”, Lehman College Art Gallery, New York City, USA (2010). He has shown with the Hughes Gallery from 2006 to 2013. He was interviewed and featured by ABC and The Sydney Morning Herald. Most recently, he has shown in “Pulse of the Dragon” at the Casula Powerhouse in 2020 and had a sold-out solo show “All about Trees” at ICICLE, Paris, France (2019/20).

His works are in the permanent collections of the Yuz Museum Shanghai, China; Chongqing Contemporary Art Museum, China; Burger Collection, Switzerland; China Club Berlin, Germany; CP Foundation, Indonesia; Pacific Art Foundation, Indonesia and Singapore; Qinghe Art Museum of Nanjing, China; and other important private collections in the United States, Australia, France, Indonesia, China, etc.

Yang Jinsong lives and works in Beijing.
