Su Xinping

Su Xinping (b.1960, Inner Mongolia, China) is one of the leading artists in Chinese contemporary art. He graduated from the Painting Department at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 1983. His work does not shout or seek notoriety. Instead, it is quietly insightful and sensitive. Su addresses two ongoing themes in his practice – a deep observation of the communist convention and people’s reaction towards China’s changing society and the mastery of the printmaking tradition itself as an artistic medium.

Su’s works are held in numerous public collections, including The British Museum, San Fransico MOMA, Art Gallery of New South Wales and National Gallery of Victoria in Australia, Fukuoka Museum of Art in Japan, Shanghai Art Museum and National Art Museum of China.
